FAMILY FUN CALENDAR

Heirloom Tomato Weekend celebrates all about tomatoes—all the colors, sizes and shapes. Activities are planned especially for kids and families—creating an herb mix (to create a delicious pasta sauce at home), playing tomato toss and “Sorting Supper,” searching for “Rainbows of Tomatoes” (tomato search), and more. In addition, displays and tours showcase the tomatoes growing at Regenstein Fruit Vegetable Garden, the weekend's chefs highlight recipes with heirloom tomatoes as part of the Garden Chef Series (demonstrations at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.), and staff and volunteer experts share tips for cooking with tomatoes, preserving tomatoes, saving seeds and solving tomato problems.
