Discovery Day

Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
2430 N. Cannon Drive

Description
Nature Museum experts use their scientific knowledge to identify specimens from visitors' collections, whether it's the origin of your favorite rock, a prized leaf that you collected as a child, or just an object you noticed recently. Nature Museum scientists and urban ecologists will also provide context for how they fit into nature and our urban ecosystem. Rarely seen specimens from the Chicago Academy of Sciences 250,000-plus piece collection will also be on display for guests to observe and enjoy. This includes the Academy's oldest specimen, a Merlin (small species of falcon) from 1834, a Peregrine Falcon and Abert's Squirrel.
