Keynote speaker Dr. Thomas Phelan, who wrote the parenting book 1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2–12, will explain his straightforward techniques for managing children without yelling, arguing or spanking. Parents can attend any two of the seven 45-minute parenting workshops on topics such as potty training, toddler sleep, picky eaters, separation anxiety, Chicago preschools and raising confident and empowered kids. New for 2016: Chip Donohue, Phd, Director of the Childhood Early Technology Center at Erikson Institute, will lead a workshop on establishing a healthy media diet for toddlers and how to use “screen time” as a tool for both learning and play. There will also be an expo space for parents to mingle and engage with local toddler-friendly businesses and enrichment programs.
