Beyond the Score: Bernstein

In its fearless exuberace, stylistic openness and garish and unashemed variety, the music of Leonard Bernstein perfectly embodies the time and place in which he lived, the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Beyond the Score celebrates the approaching 100th anniversary of this legendary artist's birth with a loving portrait of the dazzling range of his imagination through passages from hsi iconic compositions and extraordinary footage and archival material. The performance ends with Bernstein's most famous orchestral showpiece, the much loved Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.
