Boats
Chicago Children's Museum 700 E. Grand Ave. at Navy Pier, Chicago, Illinois 60611
Children become captains of their own adventures when they immerse themselves in a nautical experience of their own invention, complete with docks and an assortment of boats. Lending to the realism is a view of Lake Michigan and the boats along Navy Pier’s South Dock that serve as the exhibit’s backdrop. The exhibit includes a dock with a bait and tackle shop, a kayak, sailboat and two-level work boat with a wheelchair-accessible lower cabin (complete with bunk and a kitchen prep area) offering countless opportunities for kids to envision themselves as a cook, rescuer, biologist or whichever role they choose.
Event Cost: Free with museum admission.
Event Times: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (free 5-8 p.m. on Thursdays).
