Spark Your Kid’s Creativity with 4 Art Classes Near Naperville

Explore drawing, painting, pottery and more fun for all ages.

Creating art has so many proven benefits for kids — building and improving fine motor skills, boosting self-esteem, promoting creativity, and so much more.

Luckily, there is no shortage of art classes for kids in the Naperville area. Here are some of the best places to help little artists refine their skills.

Dupage Art League

The DuPage Art League is a not-for-profit art school and gallery with the goal of promoting and encouraging the visual arts. They offer a variety of classes for kids, ranging from cartoon drawing and painting to clay modeling, animation and acrylics. These classes give children the opportunity to experience and appreciate different styles of art taught by professionals.

Studio Nafisa

The studio offers drawing, sketching and pencil shading classes for kids ages 4-12.  Early classes focus on developing fundamental drawing skills such as having the right pencil grip and drawing basic shapes. As kids progress, they’ll learn how to draw using a step-by-step approach and successfully create lines, patterns and basic shapes. Progressive classes blend their knowledge to successfully draw and still, nature, abstract and more.

Strauch Art School

Strauch Art School offers fun and inspiring art classes for children. In after school art classes (ages 6-10), each week, students will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of new art experiences such as drawing, painting, clay, printmaking, and more. Drawing classes help kiddos take their skills to the next level by learning to blend tones, layer color and working to create natural shadows (ages 9-13), while acrylic painting class (ages 9-13) lets kids dabble in painting techniques and brush handling.

Naperville Art League

The Naperville Art League is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the visual arts and encouraging artists within the community. Session-based classes include drawing, where students learn the basics of drawing, with focus on the line, both contour and gesture, value contrasts, and perspective and elements of art, where the focus is on line, shape and color.
