The district’s mission is to foster an environment where all students can reach their potential.

2. Parent involvement

The district provides multiple avenues for parents to get involved. Parents and caregivers have the option to attend a class on different topics like internet safety, alternatives to college and more through Parent University. There are also advisory councils, including the Indian Prairie Parents’ Council and the Parent Diversity Advisory Council, which allow parents to share insights and feedback with the district directly.

3. If passed, a $40 million facilities investment in 2025

In 2023, a facilities assessment was conducted on district buildings to begin a strategic plan for improvements. The assessment found six main areas for improvement: air quality, natural lighting, updated technology, student comfort, creating a modern learning environment and improving feelings of safety and security.

Stakeholders also emphasized the need for improved special education spaces and fitness rooms. The plans for improvements are in the early stages and have not yet been adopted. If approved by voters on the November 2024 ballot, the district will invest $40 million in improvements to facilities next year.

4. Mental health symposiums

In order to meet the needs of students and faculty, IPSD, in collaboration with West Aurora School District 129, launched an annual mental health symposium. The symposium features topics for both parents and teens; this year’s speakers shared insights on creating safe spaces, silencing your inner critic and body positivity.

5. $9.5 million investment provides free counseling

Last year, the district was the recipient of a $9.5 million investment in mental health as part of the state of Illinois’s effort to improve the health and wellness of students post-pandemic.

The funding is being used to establish a community clinic providing free mental health services to students and families. The CARES Community Clinics will prioritize at-risk students and underserved families by offering 50-minute counseling sessions after school hours and on weekends completely free of charge. Telehealth options will also be available.
