The city of Aurora is mainly served by three districts: West Aurora School District 129, East Aurora School District 131 and Indian Prairie School District 204. Here’s a closer look at what you need to know about these school districts. 

West Aurora School District 129

West Aurora School District 129 is a PreK-12 school system in the western suburbs of Chicago serving 10,734 students across five communities, including Aurora. The district is funded at 73 percent of its adequacy level based on the statewide Evidence-Based Funding model.

  • Key features: The district’s dual credit classes for high schoolers, robust English Language Learning programs and comprehensive education for students with disabilities make it a strong choice for all learners. Educators in the district are able to gain an English Learner certification through the district’s partnership with nearby Aurora University.

East Aurora School District 131

East Aurora School District 131 serves 12,080 students across 19 schools. The district is funded at 73 percent of its adequacy level based on the statewide Evidence-Based Funding model.

  • Key features: Students at East Aurora School District 131 have access to extensive extracurricular activities and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The district has prioritized resources to create more English Language Learning support, as more than 50 percent of its student population are defined as English Learners.
