In 2007, Highland Park native Cebrin Goodman died of a heroin overdose. Last month, a new interactive exhibit opened at the Robert Crown Center for Health Education in Hinsdale, dedicated to Goodman and built to teach elementary and junior high students the science behind “Just Say No.”
The “Science Behind Drugs and Prevention” classroom, which opened Sept. 25 to about 100 hourth-graders from the Maerker Elementary School in Westmont, uses interactive exhibits, 3-D models, and a plasma TV to engage students. Classes from Westmont, La Grange and River Grove have already gone through the curriculum, and 13 more classes from the eight-county area served by the center are booked through the end of November.
