Families can build together

If your family is interested in building and design, visit the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s Family Studio Sundays. The workshops offer families the opportunity to get a close-up look at architecture and Chicago’s man-made environment.

Each Family Studio Sunday features activities relating to architecture and one of the CAF’s exhibits, including a short walking tour, a craft activity and a building activity appropriate for 3- to 12-year-olds. Exhibits and activities often include parks and other spaces that people might not strictly think of as architecture, says Jean Linsner, vice president of youth education at the CAF.

Family Studio Sundays are held on the third Sunday of every month from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Upcoming Studio Sundays include Happy Birthday Chicago! Building a City on March 15, City in a Garden on April 19 and Animal Architecture on May 17.
