A Kids Play About Racism Streaming for Free This Weekend

Every parent should add A Kids Book About Racism to their child’s anti-racism book collection. Now, you add a brand new play based on the book to your watch list.

A Kids Play About Racism premieres this weekend on streaming platform, Broadway On Demand. Families can watch the theatrical adaptation of Jelani Memory’s book for free on Aug. 1-2. Similar to the book, the play will engage with kids to help them understand racism and encourage parents to continue the conversation at home.

“I jumped at the opportunity to adapt Jelani Memory’s book ‘A Kids Book About Racism’ into a theatrical piece for young audiences simply because it meant we were recognizing the importance of including children in these difficult conversations,” says lead artist Khalia Davis in a press release. “This show embraces the full spectrum of emotional response children may have as they navigate comprehending racism and how it may affect them.”

Chicago Children’s Theatre and Filament Theatre are producers of A Kids Play About Racism, along with 36 other Theatre for Young Audiences theaters.
