Rita Colorito

Each month freelance journalist Rita Colorito scans scores of the latest health studies to bring you health news you can use at home, at the doctor's office and during pregnancy for ChicagoParent's Health Page. Part of the sandwich generation, Rita cares for her son Erick, 5, and for her 82-year-old mother, Maria. When it comes to her family's health, Rita still prefers the Golden Rule of everything in moderation, and going natural whenever possible. Her health writing has also appeared in numerous publications, including SELF, Natural Solutions and Arthritis Today. A Massachusetts native, Rita has called the Midwest home since 2000 and chose to set roots in Glen Ellyn two years ago because it reminds her of New England. Now that Erick enjoys traveling, Rita and her husband, Bret, hope to resume their wanderlust, though she still misses her cats, Rosebud and Oliver, when she's away.
