Starting Friday, May 9 and then every Friday night in May, CCT will present a Later Stages show for kids ages 8 and up performed by smaller Chicago companies creating cutting-edge new works for young audiences, immediately following the 5:30 p.m. performance of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. On Friday, May 9 and May 23 at 7:30 p.m., Theatre Unspeakable will present SuperMan 2050, an epic story in which seven actors share one tiny platform, just 3-by-7 feet of space, and upon it an original Superman tale unfolds. On Friday, May 16 and May 30 at 7:30 p.m., Manual Cinema will present Lula del Rey, a mythic reinvention of the classic coming-of-age story about a young girl who lives with her mother in the middle of the desert. Lula del Rey is performed with overhead projectors, shadow puppets, actors in silhouette and live music.
