Southport Performing Arts Conservatory (SPACE) Announces

This summer, children Pre-K through grade 5 can explore SPACE (Southport Performing Arts Conservatory) by attending the conservatory’s interactive summer arts camp programs. Designed to entertain, educate and empower children, SPACE’s Summer Arts Camp series introduces children to dance, music and the visual arts. Classes will be held at SPACE's two convenient Chicago locations.   SPACE's first Summer Arts Camp program begins June 21 - July 2, 2010, with a second program beginning July 5 - July 16, 2010. Classes are offered in both morning and afternoon half-day sessions allowing parents and children added flexibility. Parents can register children for these popular Summer Arts Camp programs now through May 29, 2010, for $390 per child and after May 31, 2010, for $480 per child. A materials fee of $20 is also required. Families can save $30 off the registration fee by registering children for both sessions. All classes are non-competitive and nurturing, cater to boys and girls ages Pre-K through grade 5, and are supervised by highly-trained staff members that include professional arts teachers and artists.   Classes offered during SPACE's Summer Arts Camp include: * "The Storybook of a Little Princess and Prince" (suitable for pre-K) where imagination meets music and dance. * Musical Theater (pre-K through 5th grade) where children learn the fundamentals of jazz and tap as well as choreography culminating in a live performance. * Hip-Hop /Break Dance (pre-K through 5th grade) introduces children to this popular dance form (music is carefully selected for acceptable lyrics and age-appropriate moves are taught). * Sing and Play (pre-K through 5th grade) introduces children to basic rhythms, songs, music and performance. * Choir (pre-K through 5th grade) lets children learn the joy of vocal expression and hones performing skills. * Instrumental Group Instruction for Piano, Guitar and Drum (Pre-K through 5th grade) introduces children to fundamental techniques in their chosen instrument and is a wonderful opportunity to introduce budding musicians to an instrument. * "Let's Paint the Music and Dance" (Pre-K through 5th grade) let's children explore the visual arts by creating paintings, drawings and sculptures.   SPACE has two Chicago locations and is located at 1439 W.
