New play place opening in Humboldt Park

Once the playgrounds become just too cold to handle, your family is covered on staying warm and occupied on the West Side.

Enter, Be Kids Cafe. The Humboldt Park neighborhood is the lucky recipient of this new play space, with a huge indoor play structure that will keep children ages 6 months to 12 years, while parents and caregivers get to enjoy coffee and locally-made treats.

A special area for the younger tots will keep them separate from the older set, while older kiddos get to climb, slide, zip line and enjoy ball pits that you usually have to head to the suburbs to enjoy. Parents and caregivers will be responsible for their charges whilst they’re on the play equipment, but there will be a staff member present in the play area assisting in redirection and providing any help needed.

“We are parents that understand the struggle of juggling kids and it takes a community to help support each other,” said Justin and Cely Cordes, owners of Be Kids Cafe. “Our goal is to provide a safe environment where kids can learn to interact and play independently and with each other.”

And as well as the fantastic play equipment, there will be plenty of classes and birthday party options in the space. There will also be opportunities for community involvement, education, fundraising, and Be Kids Cafe scholarships. The owners’ mission is to encompass community involvement, engagement and local support.

Before you all start beating a path to their door, just a friendly warning that Be Kids Cafe won’t be open until January next year, but a new play place hitting the city is exciting enough to start looking forward to now.
