The Kinder House, a 1907 house museum, is open for tours of the first floor during those hours. The Visitor Center is wheelchair and stroller accessible, but the Kinder House is only accessible by going up several steps. The summer program Afternoon Adventures for kids takes place on Wednesday afternoons (June 18-Aug. 13) with themes, topics, and fun activities relating to Des Plaines history. The current exhibit shows four quilts from the History Center collection through June 2014. The next exhibit, on the subject of travel, opens in August.
