Outdoor family-friendly festivities include patriotic music, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a keynote oration by Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, and a children’s costume parade led by the World’s Tallest Uncle Sam. After the program, Illinois residents can visit the museum free from noon-4:30 p.m. Check out the museum’s newest exhibition, “Lincoln’s Undying Words,” and discover how Lincoln’s changing views towards slavery transformed America.
