Located on Navy Pier, the museum’s three floors are filled with engaging exhibits and playful programs, including Dinosaur Expedition, where kids can dig for dinosaur bones; Play It Safe, featuring authentic gear, a command station and fire truck; WaterWays, an interactive system of pulleys, pumps, locks and dams (raincoats provided). Families can make art to take home in the Kraft Artabounds Studio’s free daily workshops. The gated Treehouse Trails and Kids Town exhibits are geared especially for toddlers and preschoolers. Older kids will love climbing on the museum's three-story climbing schooner or building a skyscraper in the award-winning Skyline exhibit. Tinkering Lab, a DIY maker-space, provides the materials, space and freedom to innovate, build, test and retest with real tools and materials. Open this summer, Circus Zirkus: Where You’re the Star of the Show invites kids to work behind-the-scenes, swing on a flying trapeze or just clown around in center ring. Lunch options on Navy Pier include a food court, numerous restaurants and public spaces for packed lunches. Plenty of indoor parking is available in Navy Pier garages (visit navypier.com for information). The museum offers a membership option that includes parking. Summer Hours (May 26-Sept. 1): 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.
