An architectural showplace for the visual and performing arts, the Chicago Cultural Center was once the main Chicago Public Library. As one of the most comprehensive free arts showcases in the United States, this landmark building is the setting for hundreds of programs and exhibitions annually. Admission-free exhibitions and programs covering a wide range of the performing, visual and literary arts are presented almost daily. The Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture operates a Visitor Information Center in the building. Free 45-minute guided building tours are given at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
