Learn about the summer festivals (matsura) celebrated in Japan during this special weekend of activities. Listen to performances of Kokyo Taiko (Taiko drumming) and Chicago Koto Group (koto harp), enjoy traditional storytelling from Anne Shimojima, and watch a tea ceremony by the students of Dr. Nakashima. Kids of all ages can make projects to celebrate summer-create a paper fan, make a kite, and gyotaku fish prints at family-friendly, hands-on stations.
