This 17-mile paved trail follows the North Branch of the Chicago River with a four-mile loop around the Skokie Lagoons. If you enter the Botanic Gardens at Dundee Road (free entrance for bikers and pedestrians), the gardens provide free bike racks as well as a place to refuel.
