Holiday Light Festival
Mooseheart, Ill. 60539
Cost: $10 car, $3 person 3-D glasses
Hours: Nov. 26-Jan. 1
Mooseheart is currently home to roughly 230 students, ranging in age from preschoolers to high school seniors. Applications for admission to Mooseheart are considered from any family whose children are, for whatever reason, lacking a stable home environment. Mooseheart boasts its own U.S. Post Office and a fully functioning branch of Fifth Third Bank.
Mooseheart, a child residential facility and school for children in need, will host a five-week Holiday Light Festival encompassing more than 80 displays over a 1.8-mile drive-through course. Santa makes a guest appearance at Mooseheart's Fieldhouse on Dec. 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19. Santa visits are only available to those families who have paid for and toured the Holiday Lights Show that same evening (the Fieldhouse is at the end of the show). Hot chocolate, coffee and Christmas cookies will also be available. Enhance the experience with 3-D glasses, which will be available for $3 at the campus' front gate. All proceeds will be directed to Mooseheart's residential care and academic/vocational training for kids. Further information, including a route map and discount coupon, can be found at www.mooseheart.org. Nov. 26-Jan. 1, from 6-10 p.m.
