Workshops take place throughout the academic year, offering free, drop-in, hands-on art-making workshops for kids and families, providing an interactive experience that engages visitors of all ages in contemporary art, while also offering participants personal insight into the Art Center’s exhibits. Feb. 14th's workshops are: CREATE YOUR OWN BEAT: Teaching Artist Dorian Sylvain will lead a workshop to create percussion instruments that you can then take to the Chicago Sinfonietta’s upcoming performance, "BYOB: Bring Your Own Beat” on March 14. VALENTINE PHOTOGRAMS: Join Teaching Artist Candice Latimer to create Valentine-themed photograms (shadow pictures) in the Art Center's dark room. Watch your images appear like ghosts on real black-and-white photo paper. POP-UP VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS: Teaching Artist Mary Tepper will show you how to construct personalized pop-up Valentine’s Day cards that are sure to be cherished by your Valentine.
