Offering exceptional opportunities for students age 3 through 12th grades, the Schools were founded by educational philosopher John Dewey, who believed that children learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process. This remains an important part of teaching and learning at the Lab Schools, where students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills, discover connections between subjects and disciplines, become confident learners, and grow to realize the responsibilities of belonging to a diverse community.
