Registration is now open for students who want to take an unusual journey through the human body.
The Robert Crown Center for Health Education (RCC) offers "Body Trek," a summer science camp designed to give kids (6th through 8th grade) an in-depth exploration of the human body and an overview of health and science careers. Campers will enjoy hands-on activities to explore the systems of the body, as well as learning about the benefits of good nutrition and physical fitness. Body Trek campers have the opportunity to learn through dissecting animal organs including the brain, eye, heart and lungs. The experience features a field trip to a hospital operating room where students observe surgical procedures, learn to suture, take a patient's vital signs, and perform routine medical tests using mannequins. "Body Trek" is facilitated by RCC educators, physicians and volunteer medical staff.
