Discover the beaches, prairies, dunes and woodlands of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore while bog stomping, bug hunting, night hiking and more. Campers experience native and historic cultures, play nature games, try their hand at camp crafts, and sing around the campfire with new friends at summer camp in the national park.
Dunes Learning Center's 63 acre outdoor campus is located in the heart of the dunes, encircled by scenic trails, historic sites and one of the most diverse ecosystems in the nation.
Lodging is provided in modern, climate-controlled cabins accommodating eight (seven campers and one counselor). Each cabin is equipped with bunk beds and bathroom facilities.
Operating in partnership with the National Park Service, Dunes Learning Center programs are led by trained environmental educators and counselors. Overnight and day camps provide unique outdoor experiences for all ages:
Dunes Adventure Camp: ages 14-16
Teen campers spend 4 days and 3 nights immersed in the unique ecology of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Kayaking, night-time insect investigations, nature photography, a beach party and camp-out are just a few of the adventures designed to thrill, challenge and engage teens.
Dates: June 30-July 3
Dunes Discovery Camps: ages 10-13
Campers explore rivers, search for salamanders, identify insects, hike through dunes, cool off in Lake Michigan, laugh with new friends, and sing around the campfire at this summer camp like no other.
Dates: July 13-18 or July 27-August 1
Critter Camp: ages 6-9
Critter Camp gets kids outside, where they spend their days exploring the park's forests, streams, meadows and trails with new friends. Activities range from camp crafts to "Rotten Log Explorations" to a day at the beach. Kids return home full of sand and stories!
