Does your child love to help in the kitchen? Teaching your kids to cook prepares them for their future, plus it’s fun! The Chopping Block’s Kids and Teen Summer Cooking Camps feature hands-on cooking, education and lots of eating.
The camps for kids 7 to 11 years old focus on following recipes, learning about ingredients, working cleanly and safely in the kitchen and exploring new foods. There are three different four-day kids’ camps to choose from.
The camps for teens 12 to 16 years old experiment with simple yet sophisticated menus that they will enjoy recreating for the family at home. They will learn the basics of cooking and baking techniques, menu planning, and organizing prep work. All camps start with a lesson in knife skills, and feature an Iron Chef competition on the last day. There are three different five-day teen camps to choose from.
Many of our diehard junior chefs choose to take more than one camp, so please note that the camps can be taken in any order. Camps run June through August 2017 and are held at The Chopping Block Lincoln Square. Kids work together in teams to build relationships and make new friends!
