Best ways to enjoy March holidays in Chicago

Just when you think you can enjoy your “normal” routine, March holidays hit you, especially with St. Patrick’s Day, Passover, Easter, the first day of spring, and even World Kidney Day (explain that one to me) filling up the month. Here are some fun ways to embrace the chaos.

Embrace the holiday chaos in March. We’ve found great ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Passover and Easter with kids.

Easter

The egg hunt is the pinnacle of kiddie fun for Easter, and theChicago Park District puts on some pretty good gatherings. Try:

Altgeld Bunny Holiday Festival, 515 S. Washtenaw. If you want tokickstart the Easter celebration, check out Altgeld Park 4-6 p.m.March 28 for games, face painting and arts and crafts for kids5-11. $2.

For an amazing Easter brunch, hit the Four Seasons, ofcourse.

Passover

Passover is one of my favorite holidays, but the prep for it isharder than the reward. Eat out instead. Mity Nice Grill in Water
Tower Place offers a family-style Passover dinner you won’t forget.
$36.95 adult, $16.95 kids 12 and under.

If you must cook at home, plan on something to entertain theyoungsters when they’ve tired of the long Seder. TempleSholom’s gift shop offers goodies like a kiddie Seder set and a
DVD of “Shalom Sesame: It’s Passover, Grover!”

St. Patrick’s Day

Don’t miss the huge St. Patrick’s Day parade at noon on March17. To see the Chicago river turn green, arrive by 10:45 a.m.

If watching the big to-do downtown isn’t your thing, stop by theWishcraft Workshop in Roscoe
Village for a “Top O’ the Morning” class for kids, where they’re
sure to make the best leprechaun this side of the Atlantic. Class
starts at 10:30 a.m.
