Unique Chicago date night ideas to try this summer

There are countless ways to have fun with kids in Chicago, but when was the last time you and your significant other explored the city one-on-one? Call up the babysitter and spice up your next date night with these fun events and activities.

Visit a park at night

Chicago parks may be family-friendly playgrounds by day, but by night, they transform into date-friendly attractions. Have a picnic and try rock climbing at Maggie Daley Park, or catch a free concert at Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. If you’re looking for a real wild time, visit one of Lincoln Park Zoo’s Adults Night Out events, where you can enjoy live entertainment, drinks and, of course, animals.

Enjoy nature

Take a romantic stroll along the Chicago Riverwalk or visit Chicago Botanic Garden to admire the beauty Chicago has to offer. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, take a night kayak tour on Lake Michigan and enjoy the view of the lake around Navy Pier. If you’re up for exploring more of the shadier sides of the city, consider a Ghosts and Gangsters of Hustlertown tour.

Wine and dine in style

Accompany your sweetie to The Signature Room at the 95th for dinner followed by cocktails at The Signature Lounge at the 96th. If you’re looking for a more hands-on food experience, try Geja’s café for some fancy fondue. Or, keep it casual at Green Mill Cocktail Lounge on Broadway Avenue that offers live jazz and drinks every night.

Pretend to be tourists

Remember why you fell in love with each other and the windy city by visiting some of Chicago’s most popular attractions like you’re new in town. Take in Buckingham Fountain’s light display or feel the adrenalin rush from peering over the ledge of the Chicago Skydeck. For out-of-this-world fun, visit an Adler After Dark event at Adler Planetarium. The 21 and up only event offers an exclusive look at our universe and unique entertainment.

Catch a show

With Chicago being one of the best cities for theater and entertainment, nothing beats the classic date of seeing a Broadway in Chicago show. And although shows can get pricey, there are still ways to see them without breaking the bank. Broadway in Chicago, for example, holds offers such as lottery tickets or their $25 on the 25 special that you can receive on the 25th of every month through their Facebook.
