
A lot of Chicago theaters open shows in November. Here's a list of fun shows that aren't necessarily about scrooges or santas.

Join Stuart Little in this musical as he joins the city boat race, drives his mini-motor car and ventures out in search of his friend. Performances are at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8-10.

Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre's holiday fare is a little bit of whimsy, and a little bit of nostalgia. Some of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters are brought to life with the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all of the Whos of Whoville. These classic, colorful tales are brought together by Jojo, a young boy and "thinker of strange and wonderful thinks."

Annie is a spunky orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. Featuring advanced actors of the ATC REP and JR. REP Company at the Actors Training Center. Performances run from Oct. 29-Nov. 12. Shakespeare's well-known classics whittled down by kids and for kids. Using only brown paper bags and cardboard to create props and costumes, the actors will take kids favorite Shakespeare plays and adapt them into 10 minute shorts. Performances at 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from Nov. 12-20.

Emily Book is no ordinary teenager. Her quiet, unassuming demeanor belies the secret she's carried with her for most of her young life. Returning to her hometown for her final year of high school stirs up rumors of Emily's mysterious past and her supernatural gift that is as thrilling as it is shocking. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11, 12, 18 and 19; 2:30 p.m. Nov. 12, 13, 19, 20.
