The Child Care Center of Evanston
Sponsored listing:
The Child Care Center of Evanston serves children from 2 - 5
years of age at our Center which is located at 1840 Asbury Avenue,
Evanston. The Queen Anne mansion houses 93 children in 5
classrooms. One of the classrooms uses the Montessori philosophy
and is fully accredited with the American Montessori Society.
Classrooms have two full time teachers and an assistant teacher
exceeding the ratios set forth by DCFS. The Center has State Pre-K
teachers in two classrooms. Teachers use authentic assessment
for targeted instruction, tailored to meet the needs and interest
of the children. Children learn through active inquiry and
exploration; language and literacy are embedded throughout the
classrooms. Kindergarten readiness is an important goal. The Center
has a large outdoor classroom complete with a tricycle track,
climber, sports equipment, and two garden areas. Children, teachers
and parents work together to plan, plant and harvest foods grown
from the garden and incorporate them into the classroom curriculum.
The Center uses Gourmet Gorilla for its catering, providing locally
grown, organic lunches for children.
In addition to the Center program, is Family Child Care
Connections; a network of licensed family child care providers
serving children from six weeks to three years of age. Children
benefit from the low caregiver to child ratio and home away from
home environment. Weekly visits from a child development specialist
and our Roving Reader/Musician offer learning activities for young
children, and support for caregivers.
Enrollment is ongoing. Call the Center to arrange for a tour:
