The Catherine Cook School inspires children for life in a
nurturing learning environment focused on the formative years of
preschool through eighth grade. Thoughtful teachers engage children
in challenging, project-based learning experiences, supported by
our innovative technology. Our focus on social development and
encouraging personal excellence fosters a community of motivated
learners. The result is a confident and ethical young person ready
to succeed in high school and beyond.
All students benefit from
developmentally appropriate use of technology. The one-to-one
laptop program empowers learners and is the first of its kind in
Chicago's independent schools.
The Catherine Cook School has
partnered with the Institute for Global Ethics to engage students
in developing moral sensibilities and ethical thinking. The "ROARS"
program enlightens students to the core values cherished in the
community, and students explore their place in the community
through the Second Step program.
The school offers a wide variety of
extra-curricular opportunities through the After School Adventures
program. Students can explore ceramics, painting, dance
classes, chess, math club, rock band, and more.
Families frequently remark that the
school's warm, joyful feeling sets it apart. Community spirit is
evident at weekly assemblies, school musicals, art openings, and
sports events. Parents build connections naturally through an
energetic Parent Association, active volunteer programs, and
engaging parent seminars.
A fixture in the Old Town
neighborhood, and a 37 year history, The Catherine Cook School
draws more than 500 students from many neighborhoods including
Lincoln Park, Bucktown/Wicker Park, The West Loop, Printers Row,
and River East.
