CICS ChicagoQuest: a 6th - 12th grade charter school with a revolutionary curriculum that engages students to learn in new ways.
Come to an open house to meet our School Director, teachers, parents and students, and learn what the buzz is all about.
What makes CICS ChicagoQuest different?
1. INTEGRATED DOMAINS At CICS ChicagoQuest, students learn standards-based content and skills within classes that we call "domains". Our integrated domain courses are called "The Way Things Work (a blend of science and math), "Codeworlds" (a blend of math and English) and "Being, Space and Place" (a blend of Social Studies and English).
2. SYSTEMS THINKING Systems thinking involves seeing how parts work together to make a whole. At CICS ChicagoQuest, systems thinking is a lens through which students view and understand the content areas; a tool for tackling complex problems; a framework for understanding relationships in school, family, community, and the world; and a perspective that supports engagement as an agent of change.
3. GAME-LIKE LEARNING is an approach that applies the principles of game design to curriculum development and instruction. Collaborative teams use the architecture of games to structure how they engage students into the content and develop their skill sets. At CICS ChicagoQuest, teachers collaborate with game designers, learning strategists and curriculum specialists to develop "missions" that engage students in standards-based content and skills in a game-like way. This collaborative process results in highly creative and engaging approaches to teaching and learning.
