Alta Vista Montessori
Libertyville, Ill. 60048
Our world is changing fast that no one can predict what it will look like when our children become adults. What we do know is that to meet the unknown challenges of the future, our children will need strong skills in social intelligence, communication, and independent thought. They will need to be adaptable, creative, and able to enthusiastically learn new things for changing circumstances. The Montessori Method is a different way of learning than what is found in traditional schools. It's an approach that focuses on how and not what we learn.
At Alta Vista we believe that children are competent beings capable of self-directed discovery. They start with hands-on materials and progress to abstraction through experiences in the classroom. Teachers are guides, gently opening a path before young people as they achieve greater competency and responsibility. We focus on the development of the "whole person", so you're as likely to see a Montessori student at our school learning manners as well as learning how to read. We strive to create environments that nurture a love of learning with activities that encourage and inspire our students to unfold their wings to their fullest potential.
Over the past 15 years our classrooms have multiplied, but our mission has remained the same. Many children have passed through our doors and gone on to succeed in their future schools. We are proud of our legacy, and look forward to many more years offering exceptional learning experiences upon which lifelong success is built.
