Catch Granddad, the world's oldest known fish, at the Shedd this fall.

Calling all Sheddheads: Get there early and it's free!

The Shedd Aquarium is offering free admission through the month of September. In celebration of its 80th anniversary, the Shedd is welcoming its first 80 guests of each day with free general admission. These 80 lucky guests will have the opportunity to explore the original galleries (built in 1930) and visit the Shedd's oldest fish, Granddad, who has held residence since 1933.

The Shedd is also holding the Share a Memory, Make a Memory contest through September, which means the aquarium's online visitors and Facebook friends have a chance to share their memorable moments to win one of five opportunities to experience a Penguin Encounter for four as well as a gift certificate to one of Shedd's restaurants. The deadline for this contest is Sept. 19.
