Fall may be sneaking up on us faster than we'd like, but there's
still a Chicago summer must-see happening this weekend. The Air and
Water Show will fill your family's weekend with an exciting aerial
lineup high in the sky.
Event spokesperson Mary May has a few tips for families, from
arrival to finale:
The best place to watch is from North Avenue beach, where you'll
be able to hear announcer Herb Hunter. But if you end up out of
earshot, you can always listen on WBBM news radio.
To get to North Avenue, or any of the other beaches, families
should take public transportation since there isn't a lot of
parking available. If you need to drive downtown from the suburbs,
May suggests parking in the garage at Millennium Park and take the
free shuttle to the show.
Kids will love the opening act-parachuters-so make sure to bring
along a picnic and get a spot early. The whole show is packed with
aerobatic flights from both civilian and air force pilots,
including new acts from the Red Bull Air Force. The weekend wraps
up with a finale from the Blue Angels, which May says is sure to be
the most exciting part of the show.
