Almost every day of this summer—June 3-July 12 and July 16-Sept. 1—the Millennium Park Family Fun Festival will feature an impressive mix of theater, musical performances and hands-on arts and crafts experiences from Chicago museums.

"The festival is bigger and better than last year," says Kyle Burke, manager of programming and sponsorship for Millennium Park.

With 80 percent more activities this year, this free festival, located in the North Promenade of Millennium Park in downtown Chicago, offers families a chance to spend many fun-filled days in the city while seeing something new with each visit. Special performances will feature groups such as School of Rock, Kaotic Drumline, The Audians and Chic-A-Go-Go. Three free concerts will also take place on the Jay Pritzker Pavilion on June 12, July 20 and Sept. 1.

Terah Bozarth of Evanston attended the festival twice in 2007 with her now 2-year-old son, Alex. The first time they visited, they made hats and had their faces painted. At the final concert of the summer, featuring Ralph’s World, Alex had a great time experiencing a live concert with a friend.

"The boys had so much fun dancing. They really got into it," says Bozarth.
