Vacation in Chicago's south suburbs

Lake Katherine, Palos Heights

Not only is Lake Katherine Nature Preserve one of the most beautiful areas in the Chicago suburbs, it's filled with activities no matter what you're looking to do. For the energetic family, hike around the 20-acre lake. Grab a book or sketch pad and be inspired by one of four waterfalls, including one that is 30 feet tall. Science lovers will appreciate the Wildlife Discovery Center and the Nature Discover Center. End the day with a stroll through one of the many gardens, such as the butterfly garden.

Comfort Inn, Orland Park

This hotel is a great place after a day of exploring. It features both an indoor and outdoor pool and a game room for the kids. It is just a few minutes away from Orland Square Mall, Odyssey Fun World, The Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center and Cog Hill Golf Course.

Fitzjoy Farm, Palos Park

Escape the hectic city life and gain an appreciation for nature. The family can discover the magic of horseback riding. Both private and group trail rides are available through the 12,000 acres of surrounding forest. The farm also offers lessons for children 4 and up and pony rides.
