Tootsie Rolls and Lemonheads. Fannie May and Brach's. The names taste good in our mouths, even if you're still trying to get rid of that candy the Easter Bunny left. Sweeter still: lots of iconic candymakers had their roots in our hometown.

Elmhurst Historical Museum kicks off a new exhibit with author Leslie Goddard, who helps discover what made Chicago such a sweet spot. And go ahead-split a bag of sweets on the ride home. We promise not to tell your dentist.

Free. 1 p.m. May 17. Elmhurst Historical Museum, 120 E. Park Ave., Elmhurst. (630) 833-1457, elmhursthistory.org.
