3 To See: Lizzadro, Burpee, Prehistoric Life

The month of March is filled with leprechauns and pots of gold. Even if you're not Irish, the Chicago area has hidden gems to discover without finding the end of a rainbow.

Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art is so much more than a bunch of rocks. Jade carvings, a castle carved out of gold and a seriously challenging scavenger hunt make this a great destination for a couple hours of fun.

The Burpee Museum is a small-scale natural history museum worth the trip to Rockford, especially for young dinosaur enthusiasts. Here you'll find some of the oldest rocks and bones in Illinois, all in a very "touchable" kid-friendly atmosphere

Did you know the largest dinosaur egg in the world can be found in Evanston? See that, along with an impressive collection of bones and fossils, in the Prehistoric Life Museum, located in the basement of Dave's Down to Earth Rock Shop.
