When it comes to jobs that kids covet, zookeeper is usually near the top of the list. After all, who wouldn't want to spend the day hanging with hippos or chatting with chimps? OK, we'll admit we're still not quite sure what it takes to be a zookeeper, other than an interest in animals and a good grade in biology, but your third- and fourth-graders will get the full picture when they spend the day as Junior Zookeepers learning about animal training, seeing tools of the trade and experiencing what it's like to prepare meals for zoo animals. You might want to start saving now for Vet School. $24, $20 members. 1-3 p.m. Feb. 11. Lincoln Park Zoo, 2200 N. Cannon Drive, Chicago. (312) 742-2000, lpzoo.org.
