Perched along the Chicago River at 300 N. LaSalle is a
restaurant that takes "steakhouse" to a whole new level. With
floor-to-ceiling windows, classic cool décor, an in-house butcher,
a breathtaking wine list and its own "dry-aging room," Chicago Cut
makes meat chic.
Jon and I visited Chicago Cut on a hoppin' Friday night before
hitting a show. While it was definitely bustling, with all tables
full, the room didn't feel overcrowded. We started at the bar for a
pre-dinner drink and immediately felt at home-only with way better
Then it was off to our table right in front of the enormous
windows. I highly recommend trying to nab a window seat. Looking
out at the stunning city view and watching the El whiz by
throughout dinner makes you just want to hug Chicago.
We started with the baby iceberg wedge salad with bacon and
lobster. Divine, I tell you.
I also had a glass of Prosecco that may be the best I've ever
had (and I know my Prosecco). Our waiter helped us match our food
and wine beautifully, and with as extensive a wine list as Cut
offers, that's crucial.
I ordered lobster tails as my entree, while Jon went all
carnivore and had the 6-ounce, center-cut filet mignon topped with
lobster. He described it as "mind-blowing delicious without being
overwhelming." We both also chose the truffle scalloped potatoes as
a side, because, well, who wouldn't?
Seriously folks, the food was well worth finding a sitter and
ditching the kids.
An extra lovely touch was Matt Moore, one of the owners, who
came to our table to check in and tell us more about the place.
He's a charming Irish guy who knows how to make a restaurant come
to life. Once you've visited, Chicago Cut may just become your
go-to place for those extra-special date nights.
