Lt. Ray Abordo is one of 28 Army Reservists in a Chicago-based medical unit that deployed to Afghanistan last month. Over the next year, he will miss the birth of his fourth child and his daughter's first day of kindergarten, along with everyday moments with his family.

We sat down with the Abordos in December and talked about what dad's coming deployment means to their family.
