One of my favorite things about summertime is the weekly farmers
market. It is a bounty of new, fresh and exciting products from our
hard-working local farmers. Summer is like that, too, in the
children and family music market. I am greeted throughout the
season with new, fresh and exciting music from a wide array of
For instance, veteran singer/songwriter Dave Kinnoin has a
fabulous new release, "Character Counts" and The Pop Ups have an
impressive new debut CD, "Outside Voices."
But what I am most excited about this month is the re-release of
exceptionally performed and produced CDs from Ted Jacobs, an
obscure, but incredibly gifted music producer. "The Days Gone

Poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson In Song" () are truly landmark
recordings in the field of family music.
Simply put, there are many artists who have attempted to compose
music for classic poems and verse, but none able to do it with the
style, sensitivity and emotion found on these recordings. No wonder

The digital re-mastering of these beautiful acoustic songs
brings them even closer to the listener, and the stunning artwork
reflects the attention to detail that the music and the poems
deserve. New packaging also includes a full-color booklet featuring
the poems and musical credits.
With an extremely bountiful and varied crop of children's music
available for parents to choose from, we must choose wisely and
carefully. Just as our children depend on us to provide healthy
food and lifestyle choices, we must give them a healthy and tasty
diet of music for their growth and development.
"The Days Gone By-Songs of The American Poets" and "A Child's
Garden of Songs-The Poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson In Song" are
"must-haves" for your family music (and poetry) library.
