Your life
About half a million kids are seriously injured in bicycle-related accidents each year, according to CycleSafe.org. Don’t let it be your kids.

• Make them wear a helmet, even when they resist. It really is possible to find cool, stylish helmets. Be sure it doesn’t rock back and forth or side to side.

• Refresh kids about the turn signals. To signal a left hand turn, hold your left arm out straight from your body, parallel to the ground. To signal a right hand turn, hold your left arm out and bend it at the elbow with your hand pointing up. To signal that you are about to stop, hold your left hand down a little away from your side with the palm of your hand facing back toward the traffic behind you.
