When it's time to beat the heat, head to Frankfort's trolley barn to visit Will County's first children's museum. The museum, which opened last month, is especially geared towards children from birth to age 7, says Rosalie Plechaty, acting director.

The two-story museum includes live reptile exhibits, a tot spot, pet vet, a theater and an art center. Programming for older children also will be offered, Plechaty says.

Located at 11 S. White St., it will be open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday. On second and fourth Thursdays, the museum will be open from 6-8 p.m., with free admission. Hours will change in the fall.

Admission is $5, $4 kids and seniors. For information call (815) 469-1199 or www.kidsworkchildrens museum.org.
