Get out there and play
Fly into the exhibit by pretending you’re a tree frog as you ride the Zipline through the rainforest. Your little hoppers can test their skills as they compare their jumps to the leaps of various frogs. After all of that jumping, take a breather to meet 13 species of frogs and toads native to Chicago and other animals from around the world, including Cane Toads, Cuban Tree Frogs and Leopard Frogs. Get lost in the Frog Maze, where you can test your amphibian knowledge.
Amazing Amphibians runs Feb. 7-April 12. Notebaert Nature Museum is located at 2430 N. Cannon Drive, Chicago. The museum is open 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Get out there and play some more
Stop by tropical treat stations to sample the different flavors of plants such as bananas, chocolate trees, cinnamon bark and vanilla beans produce. For more savory samplings, stop by the Sugar from the Sun exhibit to try different treats from product partners each Saturday. This Saturday’s partners are Baskin Robbins and Starbucks Coffee. Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance members may stop by the “Members Only” Chocolate Lounge for special extras. After all of that tasting, get creative at the hands-on activity stations to design a scratch-and-sniff necklace, Valentine’s Day card and chocolate sachet.
