Calling all builders and future engineers—K’NEX is looking for 10 dedicated builders to serve on the 2008 K’NEXpert Panel. Use your imagination and K’NEX pieces to build your most unique model.
Last year’s winner was 10-year-old Lucas Bruno from Colorado Springs, Colo., who used 4,850 K’NEX pieces to for his "Hyperspeed Roller Coaster" that nearly took up his entire bedroom.
Contest winners will have their creations featured in a photo gallery on www.knex.com along with their stories. One grand prize winner will receive $10,000 in United States Savings Bonds for college; nine winners will each receive $1,000 in bonds. K’NEXpert Panel members are invited to tour the K’NEX corporate headquarters in Pennsylvania. All winners will receive a K’NEX T-shirt, keychain, Panel Member I.D., discounts on K’NEX purchases, a special birthday surprise and free K’NEX building sets.
There are several steps to becoming a winner. Kids must build an original model that fits into one of the four categories. The building categories include: architecture, vehicles, amusement park thrill rides and ultimate K’NEX model. Creations in the ultimate K’NEX model must be built with all three parts—K’NEX bricks, Standard K’NEX and Micro K’NEX parts. All designs are judged on creativity, uniqueness and detail. Contestants can choose to create a one-minute video or DVD or convey in writing (along with a photo of the model) how they got their idea, how long it took to build and how many K’NEX pieces were used.
Print out and complete an official entry form available at www.knex.com and send all the information to K’NEX by Sept. 28. Once the semi-finalists are posted on the Web site, the public can vote on the 10 members for the K’NEXpert panel.
