Happy New Year Everyone!!! :o) |
Grateful for a New Year!By Amy Sullivan on Friday, November 11, 2011 I had an old friend say that whatever you do on New Year's sets the tone of the whole year. It'll be all about family, most of which is far away and being grateful. We'll be looking at pictures of our family and talking about all of them and how much fun we had playing in the leaves with them in the fall, all good times and how lucky we are in so many, many ways. I bought HUGE paper for them to color on and to make a drawing of the family (in their rendition) to send to Grandma and Grandpa, so just plan on making it a relaxing, fun and grateful day (and work in some chocolate in there somewhere). Happy New Year to all!! |
How My Family Celebrate the New YearBy Yolanda Wright on Friday, November 11, 2011 This year will be the same as every Year! We will meet at our Mom's house to eat whatever she has decided to cook. Busy, Busy, BusyBy Randi on Friday, November 11, 2011 Our goal this year is to keep our 3 children (6; 5; and 2) as busy as possible. Why you may ask?? We need to completely and physically wear them out so that my husband and I can actually have a few hours of "alone time". We will begin the day going to Play Zone and have them jump, bounce, bop up and down, slide and other acrobatic stunts together. They love spending time together, and luckily, for at least one morning in our home there will be NO jumping, bouncing, bopping up and down and other acrobatic stunts!! :) We will then go to a Loyola University basketball game. They enjoy watching the game, but I think the prefer eating the popcorn and pretzels, all while jumping and running up/down and all around the bleachers! Finally, again as a family, head out to an early- kid friendly NYE party. Once that is finally over, we will put the kiddies to bed, and my husband and I will sit down and have a nice glass of wine and toast in the New Year. The best part of the day was the family time we all had, but the second best was having a glass of wine, uninterrupted! Like every year before, we will make every attempt to see the ball drop at midnight, but like every year before... we will be asleep by 9:00pm. That is okay with us!! |
New Year's EveBy Machelle Anderson on Friday, November 11, 2011 We always buy "wine" and "champagne" for everyone (sparkling grape juice and sparkling white grape juice). We put on hats and count down with a champagne toast. The kids always love it. |
no sour grapes PLEASE!By Ann on Friday, November 11, 2011 we all help make a big dinner. We eat around 10:00PM ( I know it is not good for all of us dieters). Then at midnight, we all get 12 grapes. we go around in a circle, and say 1 thing we are thankful for. After your turn, you can eat your grape. you do that 12 times. Usually one of the kids say that they are thankful for NO SOUR GRAPES. It is a fun night |
