We like visiting Brookfield Zoo - visiting with the animals while enjoying a natural outdoor setting is something we all look forward to especially after a nice snowfall.

If all else fails we pop a tent and camp out in the Back Yard. My daughter loves the snow so we have spent a lot of time in the back yard in the snow.

We LOVE the snow, our 3 year old especially. This morning we took a trip to the Nature Museum and then walked (and our 3 year old ran the entire time) through Lincoln Park Zoo. We can't wait to take him skating for the first time.

We get outside as often as the weather permits and just enjoy the scenery of places like Busse Woods and its untouched beauty

Nature Games

By Emily on Friday, November 11, 2011

We are outside everyday! Snowshoeing or X-Country skiing in the forest preserves, making plaster casts of tracks we find in the snow, icicle hunts, putting out food for the critters, catching snowflakes on black paper, insulation experiments, you name it! Sometime we can only be out for a short amount of time, so theses games would be a wonderful indoor extension.

Since the weather has gotten cold we have been playing in the snow a lot! We have already lost our first 2 snowmen, been sledding down hills and for hikes as well, while looking for the animals playing hide and seek. It's always fun to find something running across our path.
